A little knowledge, a better journey
Before the adventure.
Good planning gives you more room to enjoy the trip. These notes will help you have a useful conversation with your tour operator.
Choose your pace.
Start with your available days and the places you most want to see. Ask how much driving each day involves, and how much time you will have at the stops.
Talk about the details.
Share your arrival and departure times, group size, preferred accommodation, and any mobility requirements before agreeing to the route.
Compare what’s included.
A lower tour price can cover different services. Ask for separate confirmation of transport, site guides, tickets, hotels, camps, meals, and activities.
Check your booking terms.
Read the cancellation and payment terms for your selected option. Conditions on a marketplace listing may differ from a direct booking.
Private driver or site guide?
They serve different purposes. A driver manages transport; a licensed site guide provides the guided visit at an attraction. Confirm which services are included instead of assuming the words are interchangeable.
Keep current information current.
Before travel, check official entry requirements and your government’s travel advice. For destination information, start with the Jordan Tourism Board. For Jordan Pass eligibility and inclusions, check the official Jordan Pass website.
Jordan travel questions, answered.
When is the best time to visit Petra?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking around Petra. Summer days can be very hot, and winter can be cool and rainy, so pack layers and check the forecast before you go.
Do I need a visa for Jordan, and is the Jordan Pass worth it?
Many nationalities need a visa to enter Jordan. The Jordan Pass is an official bundle that can include the visa fee for eligible visitors who meet its minimum-stay rule, plus entry to Petra and many other sites. Rules and prices change, so check the official Jordan Pass website and your government’s travel advice before you book.
How many days do I need in Jordan?
Petra deserves a full day, and two days gives you a calmer pace. With five to seven days you can combine Amman, Jerash, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea without rushing. If you only have one or two days, pick one main destination and see it well.
What should I wear in Jordan?
Choose light, breathable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees, especially at religious sites and in smaller towns. Wear sturdy closed shoes for Petra and other ruins, and bring a hat and sunscreen. Add warm layers for winter days and for desert evenings in Wadi Rum.
Should I book a private tour or a group tour?
A private tour lets you set the pickup time, pace and stops. A small-group tour follows a set schedule, which can suit travellers who prefer a fixed plan. Ask each operator what is included, as prices can cover different services.
How do I book a tour with Jordan Gems Tours?
Tell us your dates, group size and the places you want to see, using the trip planner, email or WhatsApp. Ask for a suggested route and an itemised quote, and confirm the details in writing before anything is booked. The trip planner only prepares an outline and does not take a booking.
